The Known World Bookshop started life in 2001 as Buninyong Books, located in the small historic former goldmining township of Buninyong, in country Victoria. In June 2008, we relocated to Ballarat, at 14 Sturt Street. The new premises, in an 1880s Victorian building on Ballarat's main thoroughfare, is much larger than the former shop, and offers a wonderful selection of quality secondhand books, and an espresso coffee bar, in a 1930s Art Deco-inspired atmosphere. The collection is comprehensive, with quality literature, modern classics, books on the arts, history, philosophy, Australia, militaria, science & technology, poetry and more. There is also an excellent collection of children's literature, including childhood favourites and classics. We take great pride in the collection here at The Known World. We are proud of our books, and of the service we provide our customers, both here at the bookshop, and to our online customers. All of our internet enquiries are answered promptly and courteously, and orders are carefully packaged and quickly dispatched.
